Enhancing Pharmaceutical Packaging Efficiency through Late-Stage Customization

Late-stage customization is a production approach where blank blisters are initially produced at high speeds on the blister line and customized at the final stage of the process. When an order is received, these blank blisters are retrieved from inventory, printed on demand in the required amount and promptly dispatched. This method enables pharmaceutical companies to effectively manage small batches and a high number of Stock Keeping Units (SKUs), addressing challenges posed by fluctuating demand and diverse product variations.

Hapa’s new blisterjet agile supports late-stage customization by printing in spot colors or CMYK directly onto filled and sealed blisters. This capability allows precise production of orders in exact quantities at the right time, reducing extensive inventories of pre-printed packaging material, and enhancing the blister line’s capacity utilization.
