Discover how this cutting-edge solution addresses key production challenges, enhances efficiency, and ensures compliance with future regulations. Dive in to learn how Hapa is pioneering advancements in digital printing for the pharmaceutical industry.

Thank you for taking the time to speak with us. Why don’t you start out by introducing yourself.

Of course! My name’s Steve Manning, Sales Director at Hapa AG. It’s my pleasure to give our existing and future customers an insight into our new portfolio, including its features and benefits our latest products offer.

Hapa has recently introduced the evo+ digimatic H-380. How would you describe this solution in your own words?

The digimatic is one of the three models in the evo+ family, which also features flexo and hybrid printing solutions. The evo+ range is not just an evolution of our portfolio; it supports a revolution in digitalization for our customers. The digimatic combines DOD UV cured printing for a multitude of web-fed substrates in pharma applications such as blister foils, Tyvek, paperback and monomaterials such as PP and PET.

Which production challenges does the evo+ digimatic H-380 address?

Our customers are looking for increased automation and digitalization of analogue processes, to improve product quality, efficiency, and patient safety. Time to market is also an increasingly important metric. The evo + digimatic supports a step change in all these areas.

And what improvements can customers expect if they decide to invest?

With optional Vision Secure full artwork and data inspection integrated into our pre-production tool, Make Ready, the evo+ family automates the process of obtaining approved artwork. It combines the artwork with batch-specific print requirements, such as codes and variable data, directly from the customer ERP system. This automation eliminates the need for extensive process checks traditionally associated with preprinted material, inline printing, or embossing.

What’s your favorite aspect of this new solution?

Difficult question! Having joined Hapa from the Oral Solid Dosage Pharma industry myself, I think the greatest advantage is our ability to simplify customer production for those with proliferated SKU ranges. We address the challenge of multiple formats across all assets by preparing all formats and even the individual artwork files before the printer is delivered to site. This service reduces the qualification effort and allows the customer to go directly to validation if required.

What feedback have you received from the market and the customers so far?

In short, the feedback has been very positive. The sheer number of avoided processes, QC checks, waiting, not to mention the improvement in patient safety and elimination of rework due to bad data or incorrect artwork delivered by Vision Secure has been described as ’revolutionary’.

In the fast-changing pharmaceutical environment, how does Hapa ensure that they are future-proofing customers’ productions?

I think it goes further than developing cutting-edge solutions which meet customers’ needs now. You must be thinking of the future. With serialized data requirements on the horizon, the future could be as complex as having to print serialized or batch specific encoded data to primary packs, whether they be blister, device or label. This requires excellent printing performance coupled with world-class system interfaces, all of which have been considered during the development of this machine series.

Before we close this interview, do you have any additional closing thoughts?

When you invest in Hapa printing equipment you are not only buying a pharma compliant printing and inspection solution. You’re future proofing your packaging assets against a myriad of regulatory changes. This regulation exists to secure the efficacy of products which change peoples lives on a daily basis.

So, as well as reducing inventory, improving time to market and increased asset agility, choosing Hapa allows customers to mitigate the risk of non-compliance with shifting regulatory guidelines. Hapa is the partner trusted by customers all over the globe to deliver year after year, with over 1800 systems currently in production.

Our evolution – Your revolution.
